What is your favourite type of weather?
What information do you find out from a weather forecast?
How do you make a climograph?
1. WEATHER
It is the condition of our atmosphere. It has 4 basic elements:
1. Temperature
2. Humidity
3. Wind
4. Precipitation
A thermometer measures the temperature in degrees (Celsius or Fahrenheit)
A weather vane shows wind direction using the cardinal points.
An anemometer measures wind speed in kilometres per hour.
A hygrometer measures relative humidity as a percentage.
A rain gauge is used to measure precipitation in millimetres (mm)
2. CLOUDS AND PRECIPITATIONS.
3. WEATHER FORECAST.
Meteorologists can use a scientific data from the atmosphere to predict the weather. This is called a weather forecast.
4. CLIMATE.
Meteorologists also analyse data from the past. They use this information to see weather patters over many years in the same place.
A pattern of temperature, humidity, wind and precipitation is called climate.
There are 3 climate zones based on temperature.
4.1 Climate Change
Nowadays temperatures are increasing because human activity is changing the composition of the atmosphere. This is called global warming.
